Priority for devt of Krishna mutt: Shiroor seer

Speaking after accepting the felicitation extended by the citizens of Mangalore at the Town Hall here on Thursday, the seer said that while Rathabeedi near the mutt will be beautified, devotees will be assured peaceful atmosphere to have darshan of Lord Krishna inside the shrine. “Only ‘rathas’ (chariots) should move on Rathabeedi. Hence, we have decided to deny entry for all vehicles on Rathabeedi,” he said and added that saplings of Ayurveda medicinal herbs will be planted on both sides of Rathabeedi as part of the beautification.

The seer said that LCD screens will be installed at all major points for the convenience of devotees. All poojas and rituals will be shown live on LCD screens, so that the rush of devotees in front of Navagraha Kindi will be reduced considerably. Infrastructure will be developed for the distribution of Annaprasada to more devotees, he added.

Talking about the Paryaya ritual, the seer said that the tradition of Paryaya started in the mutt during the period of Swamy Vadiraja. Paryaya seers can lead all religious rituals and festivals in the mutt during their two years’ tenure, he added.

Mangalore City Corporation Mayor M Shanker Bhat said that ‘Bhikshus’ (sages) who dedicate their life for the welfare of the society, should always be honoured. They sacrifice everything and lead simple life for the well-being of the people. Hence, it is our duty to respect and honour them, he added.

Mangalore MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MCC Commissioner Dr K N Vijayaprakash, Kateel Sri Durgaparapameshwari Temple chief priest Laxminarayana Asranna, litterateur Erya Laxminarayana Alva were present.
