He directed the officials concerned to collect complete details on the leprosy in the district. The team will create an awareness for five days in 140 schools, SC/ST hostels. Leprosy patients will be treated at St Joseph Leprosy hospital, Kankanady, KMC, K S Hegde hospital, Fr Mullers Hospital, A J Medical College, Wenlock Hospital, Family Welfare Centre, Jeppu, Kadri, Kuloor, Attavar, Bejai, Ladyhill. The treatment facility is also available at Railway dispensary, NMPT Hospital. NGOs should co-ordinate in the eradication of the disease.
Between 1999-2000, 149 patients suffering from leprosy have been identified. DHO Dr Jagannath, Dr Vijay, Leprosy Nodal Officer Dr T N Lobo, and others were present.
