Rathore bail plea rejected

Last Updated 08 January 2010, 19:34 IST

Rathore had sought anticipatory bail in two cases registered against him pertaining to attempt to murder and forging of documents pertaining to the postmortem report of molestation victim Ruchika Girhotra.

While Ruchika committed suicide in 1993, three years after the molestation incident, Rathore was convicted of molesting her and was awarded six months’ imprisonment by a CBI court on December 21 last year.

Sanjeev Jindal, additional district and sessions judge, Panchkula dismissed Rathore’s anticipatory bail plea.

Earlier, Rathore’s counsel wife, Abha, told the court that media coverage had been biased against Rathore.

She had also attacked the Girhotra family and raised questions over the character of victim’s father, Subhash Girhotra.

She had also claimed that victim’s brother, Ashu, who had filed case of torture, harassment and attempt to murder against Rathore, had never been ill-treated at the behest of her husband.
