Private tag for SSLC students: Kusma threatens to move court

Last Updated 07 February 2015, 21:08 IST

Karnataka Unaided Schools Management Association (Kusma) has demanded the State government to roll back its decision on not allowing SSLC candidates from unauthorised schools to appear for the exam along with regular candidates.

According to the government's decision, these students will be allowed to appear as private candidates only. The association has threatened to move court if the decision was not withdrawn immediately.

Kusma president V R N Reddy told Deccan Herald that the Association was attempting to arrive at a consensus with the State government on the matter.

“How can they take such a decision ahead of the exams? Imagine the effect this decision would have on students. Will the government take responsibility for untoward consequences of this decision?” Reddy sought to know. The government has also collected exam fee from these candidates, he said.

He said that the students would get a certificate with a stamp saying that he or she was a private candidate. This would have an adverse impact on their career.

According to the Association, more than 50,000 students will be affected by this decision.
Kusma demanded the government to make public the reasons for declaring these schools unauthorised, on the portal of Education department.
