With hundreds of kites dotting the skyline at End Point in Manipal University, Tarang 2015, the annual Kite Festival on Sunday turned out to be a huge draw.

About 2,000 students, women and children came prepared to have their share of fun flying kites and enjoy the bonhomie. Volunteer Services Organization (VSO), the organizers, made it a memorable afternoon for every single person who was present at the Manipal University’s football ground.

There was music and dhol as well to make merry, and a variety of food too to cater to different tastes. The slogan for the day was, “one sky, one world”.

Apt for the occasion where so many, from different sections of the society, different schools and colleges and Manipal University students gathered to have fun. In the process, VSO collected nearly Rs 2 lakhs from the sale of kites and food which will be used for charity by the Organization.

The students of Sri Krishna Bala Niketan (SKBN) and the special children from Asare also had their share of fun.

"It is a new experience for the kids to come out once in a while and attend such occasions as they are confined to a single environment most of the time," said Ramachandra, secretary of Balaniketan.

"Every child is assigned the job of a volunteer by VSO which is worthy of appreciation," he added.
