The Kengeri police have filed a charge sheet against Dr H N Krishna, the former chairperson of Karnataka Public Service Commission and others in connection with the case of physical assault on Ashok Kheny, the Managing Director of Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprise Limited.

Charge sheet has also been filed against T Venkatesh, the editor of a Kannada eveninger, A P Ranganath, the former secretary, Advocates’ Association, Bangalore, Arun Gowda, a resident of Herohalli, Ravi Kumar, a resident of Ganiga village in Mandya taluk and others in connection with the case.

Kheny was assaulted when he went to BGS Hospital in Kengeri on January 13, 2013, to pay last respects to Adi Chunchanagiri Mutt seer, Balagangadharanatha swami, when the pontiff passed away. All the five, who are supporters of former prime minister Deve Gowda, had abused Kheny in foul language and assaulted him, according to police.

Former prime minister H D Deve Gowda’s name has been dropped from the charge sheet as there were no evidences against him to prove the charges against him. A few other suspects in the case are still at large. The police would file an additional charge sheet once they are arrested, said the police.

According to the police, the charge sheet was filed before the third Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate court. The accused have been booked under IPC Sections 143, 109, 341, 323 and 504 (read with Section 149). The court took cognisance of the offence and issued summons to the accused. The matter is posted for April 25, police said.
