Janata Dal(U) chief Sharad Yadav on Thursday said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been trying to impose President’s Rule in Bihar.

Yadav said that it is being done to control the state and compensate for the loss the party suffered in Delhi. He also slammed BJP’s opposition to the Speaker’s decision of recognising JD(U) as the main opposition party.

“What else the Speaker could do? Jitan Ram Manjhi government is there and JD(U) has the largest number of MLAs. He did not have any other choice. BJP created the chaos by not allowing Nitish Kumar to become chief minister and Manjhi continued as CM with only few MLAs,” Yadav said.

The senior leader said that the governor had initially agreed that Nitish had the majority.
“But, he did not act accordingly and gave Manjhi  11 days to prove his majority. The BJP leadership responsible for the chaos,” he said.

Yadav said that the BJP has been treating JD(U) as its enemy since the latter quit the National Democratic Alliance.
