Yaduveer arrives at Palace; countdown begins for adoption ceremony

 Yaduveer Gopal Raj Urs, the adopted son designate of the Wadiyars arrived at the Palace, here, on Saturday. He was brought to the Palace by Pramoda Devi Wadiyar, wife of the late Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar.

Sources told Deccan Herald, Yaduveer, who arrived at Bengaluru from Boston, USA, on Friday, travelled to Mysuru by road on Saturday. He was received by Pramoda Devi at a designated place, before bringing him to the Palace in another car around 2.30 pm. Yaduveer entered the Palace through Brahmapuri Gate (the gate meant for the use of only Wadiyars and their relatives) facing Jaganmohan Palace on New Sayyaji Rao road).

Media persons were requested not to either video record or photograph the arrival of Yaduveer. It was only after media persons exited from Jayarama gate side, Yaduveer came to the Palace.

Festive mood

On Saturday, workers were busy in the preparations ahead of the adoption ceremony on February 23. A mantap was erected in front of the Aane Baagilu (facing Jayamarthanda Gate) from where the royals exit and enter during private Dasara and inside Kalyanamantapa, where the main rituals will be held between 1.20 pm and 1.50 pm at Mithuna lagna. However, the rituals will begin with homa and puja from the early hours.

Besides, the floor of the durbar hall is decorated with red carpets, while that of Kalyana Mantapa with green carpets. Following the ceremony, Yaduveer is expected to go on a procession from the ‘Aane Bagilu Mantap’.

A huge make-shift dining hall has been erected in front of the residential wing of the Palace, to serve food for the guests.

Guv, CM invited

The invitations for the ceremony — mostly printed in English — have been extended to Governor Vajubai Rudabai Vala, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his ministerial colleagues, besides local MLAs, MLCs and also MPs of the region, sources added. Other dignitaries include royal families from Delhi, Mumbai, Rajasthan among others.
Dress code

The dress code is durbar dress, national dress or lounge suit. The invitees have to enter the Palace through Brahmapuri gate and Madan Vilas Portion (residential wing of the royal family) by 12.45 pm.

Parents

The parents of Yaduveer — Tripurasundaridevi and Swarup Anand Gopal Raj Urs — have also arrived at the Palace.  Following the adoption ceremony, Yaduveer will be rechristened as ‘Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar’.
