JOIN USThree children met a watery grave, while their father escaped after the bike in which they were travelling fell into an open well. The incident occurred at Kenchanahalli under Yelahanka New Town police limits on Saturday.
According to police, the deceased are Singavelu, 13, Kavitha, 12 and Gokula Karna, 7. Their father Venkat Raj is a scrap dealer. They are said to be natives of Tamil Nadu and residents of Yelahanka.
The police said that Raj and his children were on their way to the air show when the incident occurred. The father who was riding the motorcycle lost control of it and it fell into the well, located on the roadside near Lucky Ali’s estate. He was said to be drunk at the time of the accident.
The father, who managed to escape, tried saving his children, but in vain.
Meanwhile, hearing the children scream, passersby gathered near the spot. Fearing that he might get thrashed by the public, Raj fled the spot. The public informed the police and fire personnel who rushed to the spot, fished out the bodies and sent them for post mortem. The police are on the lookout for Raj to question him. Jayarani, the mother of the children, was inconsolable.
