NDMA for less number of langars on Amarnath route

 The National Disaster Management Authority of India (NDMA) has issued an advisory to the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) to reduce the number of community kitchens on the route to the cave shrine.

SASB Chief Executive Officer Rakesh Gupta, at a meeting with various langar organisations, told them that NDMA has issued advisory to SASB asking it to reduce number of langers.

"The CEO, who held a meeting with the langar organisers, informed them about the advisory issued by NDMA with regard to the necessity of reducing the number of langars in pilgrimage area particularly in the Baltal-Domel and Chandanwari sectors for safety and security of pilgrims," an SASB spokesman said.

He said the CEO also asked the langar organisers to ensure cleanliness in the pilgrimage area and to strictly adhere to all terms and conditions laid down by the Board for the functioning of all the service providers in the area.

While referring to the last year's incident at Baltal, the CEO appealed to all stakeholders to maintain cordial relations to ensure against the occurrence of such incidents in future.

He said the state government had already given suitable directions to the agencies concerned to ensure maintenance of law and order during the yatra period.
