Lorry driver, cleaner assaulted by 11 people
The driver and cleaner of a lorry were assaulted by 11 people near the toll booth in Electronics City on Wednesday while they were transporting buffaloes to Denkanikottai in Tamil Nadu.

According to the police, Sadiq Pasha, 42, the driver, and Munna, 28, the cleaner, both residents of Mysuru Road, were transporting buffaloes from Madanayakanahalli to Denkanikottai.

Around 1 am, 11 persons came in two cars and waylaid the lorry near the toll booth in Electronics City. They asked the driver and the cleaner to get out of the lorry, assaulted them and fled the spot. The passersby noticed the injured, shifted them to a nearby private hospital and informed the police.

A few members from an Animal Welfare Board had lodged a complaint at Madanayakanahalli police station against the two for transporting animals to a slaughter house. The police had enquired the two and let them off, said the police.

Based on the complaint filed by the driver, the 11 men were later arrested. They claimed that they were animal activists. Investigation is being carried to ascertain their antecedents.
