Last Updated 11 March 2015, 20:31 IST

In a road rage incident reported from south Delhi’s Amar Colony, a 24-year-old MBA student was attacked on his head with a baseball bat by the occupants of a car. He is undergoing treatment at a hospital, but his condition is said to be stable.

The registration number of the vehicle occupied by the two suspects was noted down by the victim’s friend who was accompanying him at the time of the assault. The suspects, both cab drivers, were subsequently tracked down and arrested on Tuesday.

The victim, Mandeep Kalita, is enrolled as an MBA student in a Delhi college and lives with his family in Lajpat Nagar. He and his friend Arshad were returning home after their workout at a gym in Amar Colony at 8:30 pm on Monday when the incident took place.

“Their car was stuck in a traffic jam in Amar Colony’s C-Block market when the driver of a Haryana-registered car behind them began honking incessantly. Kalita who was behind the wheels rolled down the car’s window to ask the other driver to cease honking. When the driver did not oblige, Kalita got off his car to have a word with him,” said a police officer.

The two occupants of the other car, too, got out of their vehicle and soon a heated exchange ensued between the two groups. At this moment, a person from the other group brought out a baseball bat with which he struck Kalita on his head.
