A nine-year-old girl Anitha, who had gone missing from Chinnagirikoppal in Mysuru, was found dead under mysterious circumstances on Thursday. The charred remains of the body that was found, has raised suspicions of rape and murder.

It is suspected that the miscreants had killed her by pouring petrol and setting her ablaze.
Daughter of Raghu and Saraswathi couple, residents of Chinnagirikoppal, Anitha was a 2nd standard student at Kalidasa school.

Anitha, who returned from school on Wednesday, had gone to ISKCON temple nearby, with her sister Sunitha at 9.30 pm to receive ‘prasada’.

While Sunitha returned back, Anitha had gone missing. The parents who searched for their missing daughter, lodged a missing complaint at Ashokapuram police station on Thursday morning.

The charred body was found near Jayanagar 15th Main, 2nd cross on Thursday evening. Police rushed to the spot and inspected the premises. The body was completely charred and it was difficult to establish the identity.

Only after it was confirmed that the body was of Anitha’s, her parents were summoned to the spot, who identified the body with the anklet she was wearing, according to police sources.

The body has been shifted to the mortuary at Mysore Medical College for post mortem. A murder case has been booked.
