Kumarakom is located on the edge of Vembanad lake, the largest freshwater lake in South Asia. BJP leader Atal Behari Vajpayee, when he was Prime Minister, celebrated the dawn of new millennium (2001) in Kumarkom. Now, Yeddyurappa will be spending two-three days. Yeddyurappa’s childhood friend Shankara Rao, BJP’s state treasurer Lehar Singh and Krishnaiah, Officer on Special Duty are accompanying the CM.
According to the CM’s office, Yeddyurappa had directed officers to cancel all his engagements for the next three days. The CM planned his holiday trip to Kumarkom as his visit to Delhi along with leaders of Opposition parties cancelled after the delegation did not get PM’s appointment.
