District-in-charge Minister H S Mahadev Prasad, on Sunday evening, launched development works at Kanakagiri Kshetra at an estimated cost of Rs 3.9 crore.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that the numbers of tourists to Kanakagiri has been on the rise since the last few years. Roads are being constructed at a cost of Rs 41.69 lakh, while culverts are being laid at a cost of Rs 18 lakh. A yatri nivas was constructed earlier at a cost of Rs 1.5 crore, he said.

Assistant Director of Tourism department Janardhan said that a proposal to develop the road connecting Kanakagiri at a cost of Rs 1 crore, has been submitted to the government. Works will begin as soon as it is approved, he said.
Apart from this, works on a prayer hall at a cost of Rs 1.3 crore, solar lamps at Rs 51.23 lakh, and an open air theatre at Rs 11 lakh, would begin soo, he said.
