Minister for Energy K S Eshwarappa told reporters on Wednesday that the Chief Minister Yeddyurappa had agreed to provide special funds to purchase power and ensure its supply to avoid load-shedding protecting the students’ interest. The government will shortly announce the date from which its new decision will come into effect, he added.
Currently, the power utility is conducting load-shedding during these hours to cope with the power shortage. There is officially one hour load-shedding in Bangalore, three hours in other cities and towns and 12 hours in rural areas of the State.
Besides, the Minister said he has directed all escoms to hold a meeting with elected representatives and farmers’ representatives every month and solve all their problems related to power supply. A direction is also issued to replace or repair faulty transformers within 10 days’ time, he added.
