Five people have been killed in three road and two train accidents reported from the City and its outskirts since Monday night, the police said.

A motorcycle rider was killed on the spot when a speeding truck hit his two-wheeler at Budihal Cross in Devanahalli on Monday night. Vinay Kumar, 33, was riding to Devanahalli from Sulibele when the truck driver reportedly failed to control the heavy vehicle which then collided with the bike around 11.30 pm. Kumar was tossed up in the air, and collapsed. He bled to death instantly. The driver abandoned the truck and fled the spot, the police added.

In Whitefield, Manjunath, 35, a resident of Sonnenahalli, was killed when he crashed his bike into an electricity pole around 6.10 pm.

Manjunath was returning from office. As he approached Sonnenahalli, he could not control the bike and crashed it into the electricity pole. Not wearing a helmet proved fatal as he suffered serious head injuries. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to injuries later, the police said. Manjunath had married five years ago and had two children, the police added.

An elderly woman was killed on the spot when an LPG tanker ran her over near MES railway gate in Jalahalli traffic police station limits on Tuesday.

Leelavathi, 60, a native of Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh, was riding pillion on the bike of her relative Harish. They were going to the railway station. Just then, the driver of an LPG tanker lost control over his vehicle and hit the two-wheeler. Leelavathi fell down and came under the wheels of the tanker. She died instantly while Harish escaped with minor injuries. The tanker driver abandoned his vehicle and fled the spot, said the police.
In the fourth accident, Mahesh, 35, a resident of Hosaguddadahalli, was found dead near the Nayandahalli railway gate on Tuesday morning.

The railway police suspect it was an accident since they found his bike near the accident spot. A running train may have mowed him down.

In another train accident, an unidentified man aged between 45 and 48 was found dead on the railway track near the Carmelaram flyover at 6 am on Tuesday. The deceased, who is said to have been walking on the track, was run over by a running train, the Baiyappanahalli railway police said.
