JOIN USCodava National Council (CNC) president N U Nachappa said, black money and fake currency rackets were badly affecting the coffee business in the district and hence the CNC members would create awareness about the problems among the people by forming human chains in various places of the district from March 30.
Speaking at the press conference, here, on Thursday, he warned that hawala money, fake currency chain and underworld have established a link with the coffee industry and they were harassing coffee planters under the guise of ‘Moisture’, ‘Oturn’ and other forms. Attempts are on by vested interests to prepare a wide net of land mafia, to encroach farmers’ land, he alleged.
In Kodagu, illegal business of pepper has increased and has formed a nexus with the timber mafia. To create awareness among the people of the district, human chains will be formed at Napoklu on March 30, at Birunaani on April 6, Cherambane on April 7 and at Suntikoppa on April 12, Nachappa said.
