JOIN USA 44-year-old man chased and nabbed a youth who had snatched his wife’s gold chain while the couple was walking to a market in west Delhi’s Janakpuri on Wednesday, reports DHNS.
The chain was recovered from the suspect even as his partner managed to escape. Ramswaroop Sharma runs his own business and lives with his wife and children in block C of west Delhi’s Janakpuri.
The incident took place at a lonely stretch of the road in the same block around 9 pm on Wednesday.
Sharma was walking a little ahead of his wife Ritu. He suddenly heard her raise an alarm about chain snatchers.
On turning around, he noticed two youths on a motorcycle fleeing with her chain.
“Sharma lunged towards the motorcycle just as it passed by him, but could not grab either the rider or his partner. He then chased the motorcycle for a few metres just as the rider was trying to speed away,” a police officer told Deccan Herald.
He soon caught up with the motorcycle and pushed the pillion rider off it. The suspect, later identified as Rajkumar Kohli, fell off the vehicle due to the push. The rider, however, managed to get away while Sharma focused his attention to prevent Kohli from escaping.
The drama drew the attention of the locals who arrived at the scene. The chain was recovered. Police have booked Kohli. His partner has been identified, said police.
