Four killed in cracker unit fire near Vizag

Four people were killed and at least six others were injured in a blast at a cracker manufacturing unit 100 kilometers from Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh on Sunday around 4.30PM.

Sources said at least 15 persons were working in the 15 year old licensed cracker manufacturing unit in Gokulapadu in N Rayavaram mandal when the blast occurred.

Police identified the bodies of N Lakshmi, N Satyavathi, L Seshamma and S Ramana and sent their remains to nearby Nakkavaram for postmortem. All the injured were rushed to Visakhapatnam.

 Initial investigation by police revealed that the workers who were trying to make tea near the unit might have triggered the fire which caused the blast that completely destroyed the shed.
