Trance is not just a genre of music. It is a ‘state of mind’ — so believe the ‘Duo Tonal’ radio hosts Suraj Singh and Dhruva Kashyap. True worshippers of trance music, they are noted to host a trance music show called the ‘Duo Tonal’ on ‘Trance Energy Radio’ — voted number four by Trancepodium 2015 in the world’s best radio station category.

The only guys from Karnataka to host a show on an international radio station, they want to lift up the trance culture in the City. An enthusiastic duo, they air their one-hour show every week on Wednesdays at 8.30 pm. Having worked behind the decks and sharing the same passion for music, they get the best of trance music to their listeners every week. Once a month, they host solo DJs and well-known trance artistes who play some high-energy music to trance lovers.

Concept Progressive (Russia), Aman Anand (Singapore), Nick Desku (Romania), Hugo Allen (San Francisco, California), Squeezer Of Tears (Poland) are among the few artistes who have played on their show. The show has also featured Indian artistes like Akshay Bhujbal, Ayush Jajoria  and Priyanka Sudhir.

Inspired by artistes like Armin van Buuren and Mrakus Schulz, they wanted to improve the trance genre in the City. Rolling the dice to host a radio show, they got themselves a slot on one of the best radio stations. But they definitely had to face a lot of challenges as they say, “not many people in the City listen to this genre of music’’. The show has listeners from across the globe including Nepal, Switzerland, France, Belgium and America. They have also been invited as guest artistes for shows like ‘Club Mania’, ‘Deep In Debrecen’ (Hungary) and many more. They are well appreciated by the global audience, but are saddened by the poor response from the people in the City.

Connecting and bringing people together through trance music, they “deliver a perfect sonic storm that caters to short attention spans of today’s tech-savvy music consumers’’. When asked the reason for the decreased popularity of this music genre in the City, Suraj says, “People want to jump for the music. No one wants to fly with trance, which is ironic.”

The duo, who have had their share of success, promise to keep their high-energy music alive on their radio shows.

The team that has frequent interaction with their listeners say that they want to expand their “trance family”. Connecting themselves to the global trance scene, they want to give an opportunity to the local trance artistes who are striving to be heard. Smelling the success of their hard work and passion for music, they wrap up by saying, “We created this show for the love of music. Now we want to build our own studio and start producing trance music.”
