The BBMP, under the Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP) 2015, has proposed to widen the present one-way road of 25 feet to an 80 feet double road to connect it to the international airport. However, the local residents said they were unaware why the road was being widened. P S Chandrashekar, Organising Secretary of the Association, said: “We are not against development, but we wish to know whether this project is worth demolishing 12 temples and one mosque,” he questioned. Many temples on the road have a history of more than 100 years.

BBMP Chief Engineer East  Zone, Jayachandra, told Deccan Herald that the DC had given prior notice about the project to the residents.

“The project is to provide a signal-free road to the international airport and the road widening is totally justifiable,” he added.
