Bank manager ends life

Madhav Rao (52), who hailed from Dakshina Kannada district, committed suicide around 3 pm when his wife Praveena Rao had gone out.

Rao, who was working with the Mahadevapura branch, did not leave any note. He has two daughters, both married and settled in Bangalore and United States. His wife told the police that they had no domestic problems. The police are yet to determine the cause behind Rao’s suicide. His neighbours and colleagues said he was a good person and an efficient banker.

The body has been kept at Victoria Hospital, where a post-mortem will be conducted on Monday morning. Mico Layout police have registered a case.

Stolen idols recovered

Two persons, who were trying to sell antique idols of Hindu deities, were arrested by the police and stolen idols, worth Rs 25 lakh along with other pooja items were recovered from them in Kumaraswamy Layout.

M S Rehman (49) of Kavalbyrasandra and V N Krishnamurthy (64) of Allalasandra, Yelahanka, were nabbed when they were trying to sell the antique idols at Kalyaninagar, in front of Sri Sai temple on Vasanthpura Main Road on Wednesday.

The accused had four idols, including two big ones and the rest small. The police believe that the idols might have been stolen from North India. Kumarswamy Layout police have registered a case.
