Thieves struck at the house of an ayurvedic doctor couple and made away with Rs 4 lakh and valuables worth Rs 18 lakh in Vidyaranyapura on Sunday.
The theft took place when Dr B Govindaraju, a resident of 1st cross, 8th A main road, Srinidhi Layout, and his wife, had gone to their relative’s house in Nagarabhavi. Govindaraju has a clinic in Mathikere. The thieves broke open the locks of the front door to gain entry into the house. They collected cash and valuables kept in an almirah and absconded. The theft came to light when the couple returned home at 10 pm.
In another theft in Chamarajpet area, thieves burgled a house and took away 150 gram gold and Rs 2.5 lakh in cash when the houseowner was away. The theft took place at the house of Afsar, an auto driver and resident ofValmikinagar. Afsar had gone to Pandavapura at 7 am and returned at 10 pm. The thieves had broken open the rear door to enter the house.
