Yet another cannon was found during construction work in the Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute (BMCRI) premises in the KR Market area on Monday. This is the third cannon to be found in the area.

Two cannons were found while drilling a tunnel for the Metro rail project at K R Market, off Kalasipalya, a few years ago. On Monday, it was a pleasant surprise to find another cannon during the construction work for a seven-storey building in the BMCRI premises. The cannon is approximately six feet long according to the officials on the spot.

While digging to lay the foundation, the workers heard the crowbar strike a metal object. On clearing the soil, a cannon was discovered. The Director of BMCRI, Dr P K Devdas said the cannon will be handed over to the Archeological Survey of India (ASI).

On November 22, 2012, workers digging for a Metro line at K R Market stumbled upon a 12-feet cannon and a cannon ball that belonged to the Tipu Sultan era. Another cannon with similar features was found at the same site the next day.

While each cannon weighed more than a tonne, the cannon ball was about 10 kg. Keshava T M, the then deputy superintendent archeologist, excavation branch of the ASI, who examined the cannon, said the gun was made of iron and belonged to the 18th century.
