The IMA will send a legal notice to Gabbar is Back producer Sanjay Leela Bhansali and actor Akshay Kumar for showing the medical profession in “poor light”.

“We have drafted the notice already. It will be sent to the producer and actor tomorrow,” said Dr K K Aggarwal, Honourary General Secretary, Indian Medical Association. “Even though it is fiction, such poor portrayal will lead to trust deficit between patients and the medical fraternity. We stand together against such derogatory portrayal,” said Dr Aggarwal. The doctors fear that movies like Gabbar is Back will only trigger attack on medical practitioners from patients in case of any discrepancy in the system.

The IMA has been offended by a scene in the movie which shows doctors in a hospital giving medical treatment to a person who was already dead before arriving at the hospital.

Akshay Kumar who brings the body to the hospital is shown to be aware of the patient’s death. However, he makes everyone at the hospital believe that he is critical but still alive. “This is not acceptable as doctors are shown to have no ethics,” said Aggarwal. IMA has sent this particular video clip to 2.5 lakh doctors who are enrolled with it and asked them to boycott the film.
