Three chain snatching incidents were reported from different parts of the City on Wednesday.

In the first incident reported in Jnanabharathi police limits, two bike-borne persons snatched a gold chain weighing 50 gram from Sunitha, a resident of Hanumagiri Layout at 7 am and fled the spot.

In another incident reported in the morning, two persons waylaid Nagarathna, 59, a resident of Adarsha Layout in Basaveshwaranagar, who was returning home after buying milk from a nearby shop and snatched gold chain weighing 100 gram before fleeing.

In yet another incident, Kamalamma, 76, a resident of KGE Layout in Sanjaynagar, was relieved of a gold chain weighing 170 gram by two bike-borne persons. The incident occurred when the victim was on her way to attend a function.

The police suspect the involvement of the same gang in all three incidents reported in Jnanabharathi, Basaveshwaranagar and Sanjaynagar police limits.

A senior police officer said, “It is suspected that the people belonging to one gang have committed the crime. Chain-snatching incidents have become a menace and the police have been told to carry out intense patrolling in the areas.

Also, women should not wear expensive ornaments when walking alone.” The cases have been registered in respective police stations.
