JD(S) leader H D Deve Gowda, who turned 83 on Monday, has not lost zest for life or politics. He has declared that he would continue his political battle till the next assembly elections and would not sit quiet even for a moment.
There was festive atmosphere in Gowda’s house in Padmanabha Nagar. Buntings, banners and bursting of crackers and distribution of sweets marked the day. Gowda cut a cake in the presence of his children including H D Kumaraswamy and his wife Anitha. He chose to visit a couple of temples with his wife Chennamma. However, he skipped his annual visit to Tirupati.
Gowda said he was unfazed by the digs that the Opposition and people took at him and his party. “People have ridiculed me and my party, stating that I am too old, and that our party office is run from a shed. But these things don’t matter to me. I will continue my political battle until the next Assembly elections,” he added.
Gowda was planning to release his autobiography on the occasion of his birthday. However, work has not been completed. He is now planning to release the same on August 15.
