Opposition Leader in the Legislative Council K S Eshwarappa, on Saturday, demanded Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to come clear on the promises fulfilled during the two year rule of the State government.

Addressing media here, Eshwarappa said, the chief minister should release a list of promises made in the Congress manifesto during the Assembly elections and the promises that have been actually fulfilled later. Eshwarappa said, “The chief minister claims to have fulfilled 100 promises against 165 announced during the elections. But, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister T B Jayachandra contradicts by claiming fulfilment of 130 promises. To clear the confusion, an official list should be published”. Launching a tirade against the government, Eshwarappa said, the government has completely failed to make an impact. “The chief minister is afraid to act against inept ministers in the Cabinet for the sake of power. He seems to be a lone man. He should continue to be in power, only if he really has the ability to run the show” he said.

Eshwarappa was peeved about the performance of Revenue and District in-charge Minister V Srinivas Prasad. Though the farmers are badly hit due to recent rains, accompanied by hailstorm, especially in the northern parts of the State, the minister did not take stock of the situation. Though the minister is duty bound to visit such parts of the State, it was the chief minister who actually did the job, he said.

Though the government budged to the persistent demand of the BJP to extend relief to the farmers whose crops were destroyed in rains, by announcing a compensation of Rs 25,000, it is yet to reach them, alleged Eshwarappa.

Eshwarappa accused the government for the delay in implementing the order of the Supreme Court to auction 50 ‘C’ category mines.

Illegal miningEshwarappa took a dig at PWD Minister Dr H C Mahadevappa for failing to curb illegal sand mining. “The minister has claimed to have formed separate committees to check the complaints of illegal sand mining. However, the issue remains to be addressed with those in the racket trying to muzzle the voice of bureaucrats for taking action against them,” he alleged.
