JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy on Sunday said he, along with his party legislators, will soon meet Governor Vajubhai Vala and urge him to take action against the State government for turning a blind eye on illegal single-digit lottery in the State.

Speaking to reporters after holding a meeting with the party’s youth wing members, he said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Home Minister K J George are directly responsible for the lottery scam. The chief minister should immediately resign owning moral responsibility. The scam has happened because of his lackadaisical attitude, he charged.

The chief minister always makes irresponsible statements. The home minister has no control over his own portfolio. Retired IPS officer Kempaiah, who is an advisor to the home minister and a close-confidant of the chief minister, runs the Home department in the State, he charged.

Investigation into the scam will not be over with the suspension of senior IPS officer Alok Kumar. A number of other top police officers are involved. The government has to take steps to punish them. Pari Rajan is only an agent. The real culprits are sitting in air-conditioned rooms. They all have to be exposed, he demanded.

Were they grazing cattle?

Lashing out at the chief minister and the home minister for doing nothing to prevent the lottery scam, Kumaraswamy sought to know whether they were grazing cattle instead of taking action.

“I had written a detailed letter to the chief minister on the illegal lottery way back in December 2013. Then he spoke lightly of the letter. The government has now woken up and taking action. Were the chief minister and home minister grazing cattle all these days,” he asked.
