Labourers hurt as roof collapses on them

Two construction labourers were injured when the roof of the second floor of an under-construction building came  crashing on them. The incident took place near Yediyur lake in Jayanagar on Wednesday noon.

Police gave the labourers’ names as Sharanappa 35, a native of Kalaburagi, and Arob, from West Bengal. Around 12.30 pm, the two men were preparing for the moulding of the second floor by fixing the centring sheets. As they were busy with the work, the ceiling came down, injuring both of them.

Other labourers busy with their work on the ground floor heard their screams and rushed to their aid. They found them lying injured and took them to a nearby hospital.
They then called the police who made a dash for the spot.

They questioned other labourers and learnt that none of them had been provided with any safety gears.

A case of negligence has been registered against the building owner at the Jayanagar police station and investigation is going on.
