It was officially inaugurated by Minister for Transport R Ashok at the KSRTC central offices here.

Unveiling the new logo, the minister said, “The transport department has introduced many-people friendly measures and innovations to improve its efficiency, and take it to the people’s doorsteps.”

Ashok further said  that smart card-based vehicle registration certificates and driving licences will, over a period of time, replace the existing paper booklet to bring new technological initiatives into the department.

“We have instructed the department to start implementation. It has also been decided to henceforth issue Fitness Certificates only to those vehicles that are road-worthy,” the minister added.
