KIADB officials penalised for delay in furnishing info

The Karnataka Information Commission (KIC) has imposed a penalty of Rs 10,000 each, on four officials of the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB), for delay in furnishing information to a Right to Information (RTI) applicant.

According to a press release, four development officers of the KIADB - D Biligiri of Mysuru, Jaya Shankar, Ballari, K C Shivakumar, Hassan and M Rama, Bengaluru rural, had failed to furnish information to an RTI applicant even after being directed by the KIC.

The applicant, among others, had sought information on the names of all industrial areas formed by the KIADB in the State. However, the development officers provided information after a delay of nine months.

State Information Commission Shankar R Patil imposed penalty on the officers as per powers vested under Section 20 (1) of the RTI Act, the release said.
