<p>A Delhi Police constable and a Delhi Home Guard were thrashed when they chased and forced three men on a motorcycle to stop in central Delhi’s Ranjit Nagar in the wee hours of Sunday.<br /><br />The accused, who have been arrested, were in an inebriated condition and riding without helmets, police said.<br /><br />The incident occurred when constable Om Prakash was on night duty with Delhi Home Guard Ranveer.<br /><br />“They were on patrol on a motorcycle near Patel Nagar-Narayana Road,” said a police officer.<br />At 3 am, Om Prakash and Ranveer noticed three men riding a motorcycle on the wrong side of the road.</p>.<p><br />They were allegedly speeding and performing dangerous stunts on the motorcycle without wearing any helmet.<br /><br />Om Prakash signalled them to stop, but they sped and tried to flee.<br />“Om Prakash and Ranveer then chased the motorcycle and forced them to stop outside Metro Hospital. The men on the motorcycle were found to be drunk,” the officer added.<br /><br />It is alleged that as Om Prakash went to question them, the men riding pillion abused and pushed him.<br /><br />Soon, Om Prakash was thrashed and his uniform was torn by them.<br />“The accused claimed that they rule the area and the constable would not be allowed to leave alive,” the officer said. <br /><br />During the melee, Ranveer went towards the gate of the hospital and made a PCR call.<br /> Head constable Surender and constable Dinesh of a PCR van responded to the call and helped overpower the accused. <br /><br />They were identified as Subhash Yadav, Pawan Lal and Ajay Singh, residents of Ranjit Nagar.<br />Subhash was driving the motorcycle, but was not carrying his driving licence or vehicle documents.<br /><br />On the basis of Om Prakash’s statement, a case under Indian Penal Code and Motor Vehicles Act has been filed with Ranjit Nagar police station.<br /><br />“The medical examination of the accused confirmed that they were under the influence of alcohol,” the officer added.<br />Om Prakash is also posted with Ranjit Nagar police station.</p>
