SWR plans container depot at Nanjangud

The South Western Railway plans to set up an inland container depot at Nanjangud in the district.

SWR Divisional Manager Rajkumar Lal told reporters in Nanjangud on Tuesday that the temple town was an ideal location to set up the depot as it is an industrial hub.

Tandavapura Industrial Area and Nanjangud Industrial Area in Nanjangud house several industries. The proposed inland depot will be linked to the ports in the State by rail and surface transport, Lal said.
