Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said, he has urged the Union Ministers to release the pending funds for projects under Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission (JnNURM) in the State, during his recent visit to Delhi.
Addressing media persons, here, on Friday, during his whirlwind visit to the city to attend a slew of private functions, along with a couple of official events, he said, “JnNURM projects have been implemented effectively in the State and we have also received a national award in this regard. However, the Centre has issued directions not to take up any new projects under JnNURM. Funds might be provided only to complete the works which have already been taken up,” he said.
Reacting to the statements made by BJP leaders B S Yeddyurappa and K S Eshwarappa, he said, the State government is checking various scams. Noting that the single-digit lottery scam has been handed over to the CBI for investigation, he said, the BJP had not ventured to hand over any cases to the CBI during its tenure in the State.
On the often discussed Cabinet expansion, he said, he would inform about it when the time is ripe.
Vengeful statement
On the remarks made by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalitha that Karnataka was releasing polluted water of the River Cauvery to Tamil Nadu, he said, she was only making such statements with a vengeful attitude against the State.
