A rowdy-sheeter, who was evading summons even after a non-bailable warrant (NBW) was issued by a local court in an attempt to murder case, was arrested during the rowdy parade at K R Police station, here, on Sunday.

Abhilash alias Abhi alias ‘Sutta’, aged 25 years, a resident of K R Mohalla, in the city, had been booked in the case in 2014 and had succeeded in obtaining an anticipatory bail from the High Court. However, he had been consistently ignoring the summons and had abstained from appearing before the court in the case.

On Sunday, while three of his accomplices had appeared for the parade, Abhilash, also an active rowdy-sheeter stayed away. Learning about his whereabouts, the policemen, led by Inspector Raju, picked him up, on the pretext of the parade. Later, it emerged that he had been evading the warrant. So, the police took him to custody and arrested him.

In all, 34 rowdy-sheeters, against the 58 anti-social elements in K R Police limits, attended the parade. Among them, Abhilash was the only active thug, operating with a gang of four in the locality, the policemen said.
