In a midnight drama, a 42-year-old drunk woman created ruckus near the Bandra Reclamation here when the traffic police stopped her for a breath analyser test.

The woman, Shivani Bali, refused to take the breath analyser test and instead locked herself up inside the car and smoked a pack of cigarette while playing loud music.

The Worli resident also hurled abuses at the police and media persons as well, who rushed there to film the chaos and drama. Initially when the police tried to stop her, she tried to drive away. But the police finally managed to stop her. However, when the police asked her to come out of the car, she refused and started smoking. “She also played music inside…we kept requesting her to open the door, but she refused….when the door was opened, it was like a gas chamber,” a policewoman told reporters. The police then broke the window glass and opened the door. When she was being brought out, she hurled abuses at the police and screamed “don’t touch me, don’t touch me”. Shivani even dropped names and tried to threaten the police.

A case has been filed under Section 185 (drunken driving or driving under the influence of drugs) of Motor Vehicles Act and Section 110 (pertaining to indecent behaviour in public) of the Bombay Police Act. She was later released after paying a fine of Rs 2000, the police said. The Mumbai Police have intensified drunken-driving checks during the night after the arrest of Janhavi Gadkar, a 35-year-old corporate lawyer and vice-president (legal) of Reliance Industries Ltd.
