New-born dies at Udaipur hospital after arm cut during C-sec

The family alleged that the new-born girl was not even given a proper dressing after the injury which occurred during the operation, leading to her death three days later.
The Pannadhai Hospital, however, has defended itself saying though the baby's arm was "hurt", it was not "serious".

"Her whole arm got cut by the blade during the operation. She was lying helpless for two days without even proper dressing," the baby's father Ranjeet told reporters here.
Kamlesh Punjabi, the dean of the hospital, had earlier admitted that "the baby's arm was hurt during delivery" but added that "it was not serious, it does happen."

"Just some stitches are needed. It is not unusual," she had said before the baby died.
Angry locals staged protest outside the hospital alleging medical negligence and demanding action against the guilty. The district administration has set up a probe committee.
"I asked principal of medical college Dr Kaushik to constitute a probe panel to inquire into the incident and the committee will give its report, based on which we will take action," District Collector Anant Kumar said.
