'Make yoga mandatory in schools'

The BJP women’s wing will write to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take steps to introduce yoga as a compulsory subject in schools from classes 1 to 10.

BJP Mahila Morcha state president Shashikala Jolle said to start with Karnataka could take the initiative of making yoga mandatory in schools. The move need to be taken in view of the immense health benefits and advantages derived from practising yoga, she said.

She said the Morcha member will stage a protest in  Koppal seeking the resignation of Minor Irrigation Minister Shivaraj Thangadagi for his association with the murder of Yallalinga Kuruba, a student from Kanakapura village in Kanakagiri assembly constituency, between June 22 and 24.

Speaking to reporters, Thangadagi said, “Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had ordered a CID probe into the incident and we will provide full co-operation to the investigation.”
