Fake notes worth Rs 10 lakh seized in Harihar; 7 held

The Harihar City police busted a fake currency racket in the city on Sunday and arrested seven persons.

Police recovered fake currency notes of a total value of Rs 10.05 lakh, note printing materials and three bikes. Police identified the accused as Shanmukhappa (46), a resident of Hallur village, Hirekerur; Ramareddy (60) of Manakur, Ranebennur taluk (Haveri district); Praveen Kadur (30) of Halageri, Ranebennur taluk; Raja alias Bugati Raja (25) of Harihar; Chandrashekhar (57) of Kaledevaru, Byadagi taluk (Haveri district); Nagaraj Naik (32) of Somlapur village, Channagiri taluk, Davangere district and Mahanthesh (28) of Haveri.

Printers, paint recovered  Addressing press persons in the town on Monday, Superintendent of Police M B Boralingaiah said police recovered two printers, paint, a mould of Mahatma Gandhi and other materials from the house of prime accused Shanmukhappa at Hallur.

The Harihar City
police have registered a case and are investigating.
Additional Superintendent of Police Giriraj S Bhavimani, Deputy Superintendent of Police B S Nyamegowda and others were present at the press meet.
