The State-run 108 Arogya Kavacha ambulance service will go on a padayatra from Chikkodi taluk in Belagavi district from June 28.
The 108 Ambulance Drivers’ Union has taken this call, claiming that none of their meetings with the Health Minister U T Khader has been fruitful.
Speaking to Deccan Herald here, on Wednesday, Pandappa Patri, working president, 108 Ambulance Driver’s Union, said, “We have been requesting the government for a better pay and basic facilities such as place of rest on duty. None of these have been addressed.”
Following the padayatra, they would submit a memorandum to the government to look into their demands. “We have submitted a memorandum to the Belagavi District Commissioner seeking permission to go ahead with the Padayatra. To ensure that the services remain unaffected, only 300 of us will participate in it,” he added.
