Seven held for chain-snatching

The police have arrested seven persons in separate operations in connection with burglary and chain-snatching cases.

The Kadugodi police arrested Anthony Raj (26), a native of Krishnagiri, Mrutyunjay (25) and Shivakumar (25), both residents of Anekal, and have recovered gold jewellery, silver utensils and two bikes, all worth Rs 20 lakh.

In another operation, the Whitefield police have arrested four persons and have recovered stolen goods worth Rs 7 lakh. Venkatesh (27), Bharath, Anjan Kumar, both aged 24, and 19-year-old Kiran are the arrested. The arrests have solved six cases of chain-snatching reported in various police stations.

A police officer said, “In both the arrests, the accused were picked up for questioning. They confessed to the crime during the questioning. Later on, the valuables were recovered.”
