The waste of water is causing concern among the farmers of this area who depend on this canal to grow groundnut, wheat, tur.

The canal supplies water to majority of fields at Tangadagi through Kolur tanda, Nebageri, Banoshi. The canal construction is of inferior quality and the breach is a result of silt, cracking of lining.

The local villagers complained that the Krishna Bhagya Jal Nigam Limited (KBJNL) spends lakhs of rupees once in six months for jungle cutting. The gram panchayaths remove the weed, silt and take up cleaning work under the employment guarantee scheme. However the condition of the canal has not improved. When contacted the engineers of KBJNL, which is in charge of maintenance blamed the recent rains and the farmers who are constructing canals on their will and assured the breach would be repaired in a couple of days.

Farmers Shivanand Mankani, Basavaraj Nidagundi, Dhariyappa Desanagi, Shivaputra Shastri, Srishaila Allagi, Basavaraj Halavar and others cautioned that if the repair work is not up to the mark and of poor quality then they would gherao the Krishna Bhagya Jal Nigam office at Almatti.
