NIA puts up bounty on four Simi fugitives

Last Updated 24 July 2015, 17:57 IST

The National Investigation Agency on Friday announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh each on four Students Islamic Movement of India (Simi) members, who escaped from the Khandwa jail in Madhya Pradesh in 2013 and then reportedly got involved in several terror cases, including the blast in Bengaluru in December last year.

The reward has been declared against Amjad Khan, Zakir, Salik and Sheikh Mehboob.
The declaration of reward for their capture came during investigations into the Bijnor blast case last year.

"These accused persons are hard-core Simi activists," an official statement said, adding they had escaped from the jail on October 1, 2013.

Besides the Bijnor blast, they are also involved in cases of bank robbery, murder and other cases related to Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in MP and other parts of the country.

Their role is also suspected in the Pune blast, Chennai train bomb blast and Karim Nagar bank robbery cases. "Any person from the public, who will give any fruitful reliable information about the whereabouts of these hard-core criminals, leading to their arrest, will be rewarded. The identity of the informer will be kept secret," the statement said.

The home ministry had informed the Parliament last April that the fugitives are suspected to be involved in various terrorist acts in different parts of the country.
