District Police department will hold SC/ST grievance meet every month henceforth instead of three months to dispose of grievances received by the communities at the earliest.

Speaking at the tri-monthly SC/ST grievance meet, Superintendent of Police K Annamalai said grievance meet at the police station level would be held as usual regularly every month.

However, the meeting held at district level would take place every month following the orders issued by the IG.

Dalit leader Uday Kumar Tallur demanded clarification over the number of cases registered under SC/ST Atrocity Act and the number of accused traced out and the arrests in connection with the offence.

He alleged that the crimes against Dalits are taken least into account. He said the Kundapur Tahsildar is also not being questioned for her act against Dalits. She is been charged under the offence of Dalit atrocity act.

The  SP said arrest cannot be done unnecessarily as there are certain guidelines issued by SC based on gravity of the crime.

Retorting to another query, the Social Welfare Department district officer PramAnath said that the missing of service register of one Laxmi belonging to Dalit community is being investigated by two member team.

The show cause notice is issued to the person who maintained the service register. Dalit leader Anand said stone quarrying menace in Matlapdi is creating trouble to the families staying adjacent to the area. The activities are carried out illegally.

He alleged the Brahmavar police have taken two Dalit youths into custody who were thrashed by the Bunts community men in Little Rock Indian School. The boys were falsely framed in the Congress and BJP fights.

The Dy SP is responsible for the injustice as he has forced his subordinates to safeguard the other community men.

The accused were hospitalized for the protection,  he alleged. Brahmavar has become the hub of all illegal activities like gutka selling, rampant mutka are among others.

The Dalit leaders alleged that illegal activities are taking place in District and taluk Ambedkar Bhavans.

As the issues concerning the Ambedkar Bhavan is at court, no development activities are possible at the venue.

SP directed the concerned police official to take up regular beats in the area.  He said the monthly SC/ST meet should be held regularly at police station level to lessen the number of grievance cases heard at the district level meet.

The Dalit leader Ganesh Kundapur mentioned that there is a bar at Koteshwara which is posing problem to 15 Koraga families residing adjacent to the liquor outlet.  There  is  problems of prostitution in Kumbhasi Dalit colony, he added.

SP said the SC/ST community people should challenge the B-reports, he was retorting to the allegations by Dalit leaders of truing out the atrocity cases into B-report despite providing the evidences by the police.

He said however out of total number of cases filed under SC/ST Atrocity Act, nearly 80 percent of the cases are related to crimes like abuse, illegal entry into the house among others, which seems to be complicated, as to decide the gravity of the offence, he added.
