With BBMP polls nearing, a high profile politician from the ruling party in the State has overturned accepted wisdom by trying to reach out to the upper middle class. The objects of such affection are the well off residents of Jayamahal Extension.
The high profile politician organised a lavish breakfast at Chakravarthy Layout for the residents of Jayamahal Extension and surrounding areas on January 17 at Chakravarthy Layout. The ‘breakfast meeting,’ got up to listen to the woes of the people in the posh areas started at about 8.30 am and went on till 10.30 am. Although it was described as a breakfast meeting, the large and varied menu seemed to suggest a brunch rather than the run-of-the-mill abstemious ‘nashta.’
Many people with obvious business interests attended the party hosted by the ruling party leader and vouched to canvass for and vote in favour of his party, said sources. Interestingly, the breakfast venue was a stone’s throw from the local BBMP office.
