BJP plans poll campaign on 28 customised vans

As many as 28 customised vans with campaign material, open platform and public address system will criss-cross the streets of Bengaluru as part of BJP’s electioneering for BBMP polls.

Former deputy chief minister R Ashoka, who is the party incharge for the forthcoming elections, said the vans customised as “election rathas” will be used for campaigning by the party in each of the 28 Assembly constituencies coming under BBMP limits.

The rathas will be launched on August 12 after getting clearance from the State Election Commission, he said. The BJP is planning to bring back “LED digital vans”, previously used during the Lok Sabha and Assembly polls, for its campaign this time too.

These vans with 55-inch LED TV screen, power back-up and generator will run 10-minute films with a message from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the achievements of the NDA government. The party is planning to hold election rallies at several places in Bengaluru, including Shantinagar, Malleswaram and Basavanagudi.

The BJP, on Monday, also released its list of “star campaigners” for the elections. The list includes Pralhad Joshi, Ananth Kumar, B S Yeddyurappa, D V Sadananda Gowda, K S Eshwarappa, R Ashoka, Suresh Kumar, Aravind Limbavali, Ashwathnarayana, Vishveshwara Hedge Kageri, Sunil Kumar, Vinay Bharadwaj and actors Jaggesh, Shruthi, Tara, Malavika.
On Monday, former Congress corporator Poornima, daughter of former minister A Krishnappa, joined the BJP along with her supporters.
