Panaji: The Goa police on Thursday released the picture of the man wanted for molesting a Russian child at Arambol beach on Tuesday, and announced a reward of Rs 20,000 for information that might lead them to him.

Under enormous pressure to bring the accused to book after the increase in crimes against foreigners here which has tarnished the state’s “safe destination” image, the police said an intense hunt has been launched to track down Aman Bhardwaj, 22, a native of Basti, UP, who worked as a machine operator at Intech Pharma, Pernem Industrial Estate, North Goa.  The Russian mother identified him from the photos produced by the police, her lawyer Vikram Varma told Deccan Herald.

Making an appeal to the public to pass on any information that will lead them to Aman, DIG Ravindra Yadav said the accused turned up to work at the factory early morning, but somehow eluded them. “We are trying our best to track him down and are working with our counterparts in Karnataka and Maharashtra,” he said. The man has white patches on his skin and was last seen wearing blue jeans.

The police are also on the hunt for Anil Kumar Raghuvanshi, a co-worker of the wanted man who was with him on the beach on Tuesday. “We are not clear yet what role he played.” The police said much of the information on the main accused had come from Raghuvanshi who spoke to them on the phone, and who later turned off his mobile.

The Russian tourists who were to travel to Bangalore have put off their trip to assist the police in investigations.

Russian envoy outraged
Angry over the rape of a nine-year-old Russian girl in Goa, Moscow on Thursday asked New Delhi to take strong steps to prevent assaults on the nationals of Russia, reports DHNS from New Delhi. Russian envoy Alexander Kadakin said his country would be forced to issue an advisory to its citizens, if the Goa did not carry out proper probe.
