The Delhi Cabinet on Friday approved time-bound pay scales for DANICS officers who have completed 13, 18 and 21 years of service.

The government also introduced a pay scale in ‘Pay Band 4’ with a grade pay of Rs 10,000 after 21 years of service.

Delhi, Andaman Nicobar Island Civil Services (DANICS) is a civil service whose officers are deputed to serve the middle level and senior level administration of Delhi government and other Union Territories like Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep, Daman and Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli.

They serve most part of their service in Delhi and are posted in UTs once or twice
before they are inducted into IAS.

“While DANICS officers are eligible for promotion to IAS after completing eight years of continuous service, it has actually been taking on an average 27-28 years for promotion to IAS,” the city government said in a statement.

Stagnation
“This had resulted in lot of stagnation and consequently dissatisfaction amongst the members of the service.”

In states like Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Haryana and Punjab the cadre of State Civil Service has been managed to ensure the promotion of their members to IAS within a span of eight to 10 years.

“The Delhi government is of the view that officers dissatisfied with their service conditions can hardly be expected to perform well. So the government has accordingly decided to grant time bound pay scales to all DANICS officers,” the government said.
